Welcome to Volunteer Houston County!

Our mission is to mobilize people and resources to deliver solutions to our community's problems. Volunteer Houston County is one of the most forward-moving and result-oriented organizations in Houston County, Georgia, serving our citizens and social service agencies through volunteer service. Through strong ties with our national organization, we have access to innovative best ideas and best practices in the field. Through our commitment to serve the families of our county we are very involved and play major roles in our community's collaborative for families and children (Kids' Journey, formerly Family Connections). Service is and has always been a major part of our community's problem-solving initiatives in education, family services, public safety, and environment. We recognize that diversity is our strength, and Volunteer Houston County reflects our community's diversity in our organization.

The community is our consumer. Our efforts strengthen individuals and institutions to enable them to solve their own problems. We measure the outcome of our efforts. We can articulate the impact of our work on the community, and our services have become one of the most valued in the county.

Our Youth Service Programs have earned the reputation of engaging our youth in meaningful service developing personal, social, civic, and leadership skills. This past summer we engaged over 450 teens in service programs providing over 13,000 service hours to our community. Our committed teens serve as teacher assistants, assistant camp counselors, assistant librarians, junior pet therapists, animal shelter assistants, GREAT and DARE camp counselors, etc.

Our Adult Programs have engaged over 2300 citizens (individuals, groups, and corporate personnel) in service providing 64 community agencies and organizations with solutions.

We are a convener for our community, a catalyst for action, we have the ability to bring key players to the table; we are proactive.

Take the opportunity to browse our web site. There you will find many service opportunities available to you, your family, or your organization. The staff at Volunteer Houston County is committed to serving you!

Yours in service,
Bobbie Morris
Executive Director
