Release and Waiver of Liability

I, the Volunteer, hereby freely and voluntarily, without duress, execute this Release under the following terms:

  1. Waiver and Release.  I hereby release and forever discharge and hold harmless Volunteer Houston County, Inc., and its successors and assigns from any and all liability claims, demands, and causes of action, of whatever kind of nature, either in law or equity, which may hereafter arise from my participation with Volunteer Houston County, Inc., promoted by, or otherwise affiliated or associated with Volunteer Houston County, Inc.

    I understand and acknowledge that this Release discharges Volunteer Houston County, Inc., from any liability or claim that I may have against Volunteer Houston County, Inc., with respect to any bodily or other injury, illness, death or property damage that may result from my participation.  I also understand that Volunteer Houston County, Inc., does not assume any responsibility or obligation to provide financial assistance or other assistance, including, but not limited to, medical, health, or disability insurance, in the event of injury, illness, death or property damage.

  2. Insurance.  I understand that Volunteer Houston County, Inc., may elect to provide group accident or other liability insurance for the benefit of its volunteers.  Any coverage so provided will be governed by the policy language.  Except to the extent that it may provide such insurance, Volunteer Houston County, Inc., does not carry or maintain any health, medical, disability, damage or other liability insurance coverage for the benefit of its volunteers, and expressly disclaims any responsibility or obligation to do so.  AS A VOLUNTEER, I AM EXPECTED AND ENCOURAGED BY VOLUNTEER HOUSTON COUNTY, INC., TO MAINTAIN MEDICAL, HEALTH, AND ALL OTHER APPLICABLE INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR MY OWN BENEFIT.

  3. Medical Treatment.  Except as otherwise agreed to by Volunteer Houston County, Inc., in writing, I hereby release and forever discharge Volunteer Houston County, Inc., from any and all liability claims, demands and causes of action whatsoever that may arise on account of any first aid or other medical treatment rendered during participation with Volunteer Houston County, Inc., and/or any project, activity or event sponsored, managed, arranged, or promoted by, or otherwise affiliated or associated with Volunteer Houston County, Inc.

  4. Assumption of Risk.  I understand that my participation with Volunteer Houston County, Inc., and/or any project, activity or event sponsored, managed, arranged or promoted by, or otherwise affiliated or associated with Volunteer Houston County, Inc., may include activities that may be hazardous to me.   I further recognize and understand that such participation may involve certain inherently dangerous activities.  I hereby expressly and specifically assume the risk of injury or harm in the activities and release Volunteer Houston County, Inc., from all liability for injury, illness, death and/or property damage that may result.

  5. Photographic Release.  I do hereby grant and convey unto Volunteer Houston County, Inc., all rights, titles, and interest in and to any and all photographic images and video or audio recording made by or on behalf of Volunteer Houston County, Inc., or made with its consent, during my participation with Volunteer Houston County, Inc., and/or any project, activity or event sponsored, managed, arranged, or promoted by, or otherwise affiliated or associated with Volunteer Houston County, Inc., including, but not limited to, any royalties, proceeds, or other benefits derived from such photographs or recordings.

  6. Other.  I expressly understand and agree that this Release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by law, and that this Release shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Georgia.   I agree that in the event that any clause or provision of this Release shall be held to be invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, the invalidity of such clause or provision shall not otherwise affect the remaining provisions of this Release.

Guidelines

Be A Role Model

You are representing the "model teen" to the citizens of Houston County. The children in our communities are looking up to you as role models and it is important that you set a good example. Always bring your sunny smile, cooperative attitude, and willingness to help.

Be Dependable

Someone is counting on you! Please be on time. Let us know if you are signed up for an activity and cannot make it. We can be reached at 929-5464; if it's after hours, you can leave a message.

If you become sick or are injured while volunteering, tell your adult Volunteer Coordinator right away; arrangements will be made if you need medical care.

Be sure the adult in charge of your activity is aware of where you are at all times.

Be Comfortable

The Youth Corps "uniform" is conservative, casual attire; shorts, jeans, t-shirts, athletic shoes. Always be aware of good hygiene. You will receive more information during orientation for your particular program. Sunglasses and sunblock are important if you are going to be outside.


Be Real

The Big Three

  • Come to VYC drug, tobacco, alcohol free; their use or possession is not permitted.
  • Work out any problems you have with someone else peacefully; fighting will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
  • Do not bring knives, chains, firearms, etc. The presence of weapons of any kind is not permitted.

Breaking any part of the rules in this box will result in immediate dismissal. You will have to find your own way home!
